At Century Foundation Matriculation Higher Secondary School, we follow Tamil Nadu State Board syllabus along with enriched other publishers books, which pave way for quality education to all children without any discrimination based on their economic, social or cultural background. Links to the other subjects are made if relevant. Our intent is that our children receive a broad and balanced curriculum, as it is our belief that each of the subject is as important as the other, with equal value. The intention is that children should know more, remember more and do more to equip them for their next step in higher education and eventually a better career. The curriculum is designed to support the teaching staff to have a subject knowledge across the subject range.Each subject leader clearly maps out progression within each subject, giving clear learning intentions, strategies for recording, cross-curricular links and educational visits, to ensure that there is a depth of knowledge in each lesson taught.
The School has a well-equipped, ventilated and computerized library, with over 10,000 volumes which include books, videos, DVDs, CDs, subscriptions to 25 periodicals which are added continually. The library also provides students and teachers with a range of reference books, encyclopedias’, journals and newspapers and internet facilities to enrich their classroom activities and knowledge. Kindergarten has its own class library. All new books are arranged on a display table in the library for a month and reviews are put up on the notice board. Our specially trained librarian organizes the Library Week with book readings, designing book jackets & bookmarks and writing book reviews. To encourage the reading habit, a special ‘Drop Everything and Read Podium’ has been provided for children to read aloud passages from their favourite books and this is followed on a weekly basis in all classes, from III to XII.
Modern technology apparatus for covering experiments, which are related to learning and doing their best, during board exams and for higher education. This laboratory generates and sustains interest in the study of physics, with practical knowledge by motivating our students of Class VI to XII to ensure divergent scientific thinking.
This lab is equipped with all the apparatus, glass wares and chemicals, which are required for the practical teaching learning process from classes VI to XII. It is noteworthy to mention that the chemistry lab has been furnished with the LPG gas connection in order to facilitate learning in the most effective manner.
This lab is equipped with well-equipped instruments, microscopes, numerous specimens, models, charts etc., it gives relevant information about the unicellular and multi-cellular organisms by keeping everything possible for the uninterrupted education system.
Our computer lab is a well-designed, falseroofed, fluorescent-lamps-lit and beautifully decorated one. There are 40 computers, consisting of Intel core i5 processors, with 8 GB RAM for processing speeds. All the computers are connected through LAN. Each computer is loaded with innovative software to back up the challenging curriculum. Broadband internet connection is available to facilitate the learning process.
We have introduced the best Language lab solution, which is the integration of the state of-the-art software, with the present-day digital hardware technology in teaching spoken English. The new concept in this software is, “The software is the teacher; the language lab – the media and the teacher – the facilitator”. The voice in the software is unique. The students, while hearing back their recorded sound, gradually develops the confidence to speak English fluently.
Well-equipped Math lab is in use for classes 1 to 10. The lab is well maintained. We also have equipment like geometrical figures, cube nets, cuisenaire boards, pentomino boards etc to help the students understand the mathematical concepts in a better way. From the child’s perspective, the Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic approach of Math Buddy, helps the children understand the complexities and abstractness of Mathematics easily. This encourages the child’s confidence during the learning process. From the teachers’ point of view, the practical approach provides another dimension of teaching Mathematics with ease, backed up by an audio-visual interactive software support for reinforcing the learnt concepts and building speed with accuracy and confidence while solving Math by applying the understood abstract concepts.
